In , аIJʿª½±½á¹û Director of Off-Campus Study Joanna Holvey-Bowles and Associate Professor of Geology Martin Wong, associate dean of the faculty for global and local initiatives, discuss аIJʿª½±½á¹û’s off-campus study offerings, why it is important to learn outside of your comfort zone, and how the pandemic impacted the University’s longstanding programs abroad.

Holvey-Bowles joined аIJʿª½±½á¹û as director of off-campus study in 2016. Prior to her arrival on campus, she worked for 25 years at the Institute for Study Abroad, an international organization responsible for the management of 70 programs and university partnerships. She earned a bachelor of arts from Emory University as well as a master’s degree in global and international education from Drexel University.

In 2005, Wong joined аIJʿª½±½á¹û’s geology department after earning his bachelor of arts in geosciences from Williams College and his PhD from the University of California, Santa Barbara. His work can be found in publications such as Geological Society of America Bulletin and Precambrian Research.
