Men’s Basketball Travels To Navy And American This Weekend

            Hamilton, NY — The аIJʿª½±½á¹û Raiders (11-12, PL 3-7) will be looking to snap a two-game losing streak this weekend, when they travel to Navy (3-20, PL 0-10) on Friday, before visiting American (12-12, PL 6-4) on Sunday afternoon.

            Earlier this season, аIJʿª½±½á¹û defeated Navy, 91-84, in a shootout at Cotterell Court, and dropped a 74-71 decision against American.

            This is the 34th meeting between аIJʿª½±½á¹û and Navy with the Midshipmen leading the overall series, 19-14.  The Raiders had won four straight against Navy.

            аIJʿª½±½á¹û and American will be playing for the seventh time with the Eagles leading the series, 4-2.

            After giving Lafayette its only league setback of the season, the Raiders have dropped games to Holy Cross, 60-49, and Army, 68-63.

            аIJʿª½±½á¹û has three players in double figures led by senior forward Howard Blue with 14.8 points per game.  After missing six straight games with a knee injury, Blue saw 13 minutes of action against Army scoring six points and grabbing three rebounds.  Also in double-digits are senior guard Mark Linebaugh (13.0) and sophomore guard Alvin Reed (11.7).  Linebaugh is 5th and Reed 8th in the Patriot League in scoring.

            Junior center Andrew Zidar is second in rebounding in the Patriot League with 6.4 caroms per outing and is averaging 8.9 points per game (18th in PL).

            Reed leads the team in assists with a personal season-best 80 and steals with 31.  Linebaugh is second in assists with 69, followed by Zidar with 49.  Freshman Kendall Chones leads in blocked shots with 10 – he has been the PL Freshman of the Week for the last three weeks.

            Linebaugh is the top free throw shooter in the Patriot League making .846 percent of his shots, while Reed is sixth (.786).

            OTHER COLGATE NOTES: аIJʿª½±½á¹û is second in the Patriot League in scoring (70.0), third in free throw shooting (.712), fourth in field goal percentage (.441), fourth in 3-point field goal percentage (.353), fourth in 3-point field goal percentage defense (.347), second in assists (14.00 pg), and first in turnover/assist ratio (1.02).
