Linda Wang ’23 has received the , which prepares students to obtain a  in public policy, public administration, international affairs, or a related field. Through its efforts, the program also addresses the lack of diversity across the spectrum of professional public service.

“I really want a deeper understanding of what public policy is,” Wang says. “This summer will give me a basic overview, and hopefully I’ll find a sector of public policy that I’m really interested in and I can go deeply into it.”

As Wang explores her public policy interests, the international relations major from Oakland, Calif., also looks forward to connecting with members of her PPIA fellowship cohort. “We have a very small cohort, so I’m curious what other students were chosen and their reasons for applying,” she says.

Before her fellowship begins this summer, Wang, an OUS scholar, will have completed two semesters abroad. During fall 2021, she studied at the American University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, where she developed her Arabic language skills. This semester, she is a student in °IJʿ’s Geneva Study Group.

Upon her return to campus, Wang will write her senior thesis in international relations, while applying to graduate programs and other nationally competitive fellowships and scholarships.
