Hamilton, NY — Dr. Joel Swerdlow, author of the highly acclaimed National Geographic Society book, Nature’s Medicine, will deliver a Wolk Heart Foundation Lecture at аIJʿª½±½á¹û on Friday, April 6. He will discuss ‘Moving from Absurd to Obvious: Plants, Medicine, and Modern Science’ in 209 Lathrop Hall at 3:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served at 3:00 p.m. in the Lathrop Lobby. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Swerdlow has nearly 30 years of experience as an author, editor, journalist, lecturer, researcher, and teacher. An assistant editor and senior writer for National Geographic magazine, he has traveled extensively and covered a wide range of topics; he was the lead writer for the magazine’s 1998-99 ‘Millennium’ series. Previously, Swerdlow was a senior writer for US News and World Report Books, and covered the Watergate trial and the White House for National Public Radio. He has served as a consultant to organizations such as ABC News, the US Information Agency, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the Department of Commerce, and the National Institutes of Medicine. He has taught at Georgetown and American Universities, was a guest scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, and was a senior fellow at the Annenberg Washington Program in Communications Policy. In addition to Nature’s Medicine, he has published seven other books, including To Heal a Nation: The Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial.
