Recreation of Gummitrae by Njeri Jennings

Picker Art Gallery Assistant Educator, Njeri Jennings, was inspired by the Getty Challenge to recreate an artwork from the Picker collection. She chose Poul Edvard Nielsen's Gummitrae (Rubber Tree) using only objects from home. "The soothing colors and bold lines allow the viewer to remember the peace plants and books can bring to life," said Jennings.

Kaytlynn Lynch, the interim curator at the Longyear Museum of Anthropology,  chose to recreate Sapho (Sappho), (1844) by The虂odore Chasse虂riau, also based on things she had at home: a Halloween wig, a Guitar Hero guitar, a similar dress, and various embellishments. Lynch says, 鈥渕y favorite aspect of taking part in this challenge was gathering all of the items I needed to make it happen 鈥 it was like putting together a puzzle!鈥
