The Lightboard is a glass chalkboard combined with a video camera setup that allows instructors to create educational content. Writing on the board's transparent surface, instructors face the audience, and lecturing with hand-drawn or imported visuals. Facing the camera while lecturing creates a more natural and engaging recording.

Possible Uses

Making recordings on the Lightboard requires some thought, advance planning, and production support, but can be very effective in supporting student learning. Like a regular classroom chalkboard or whiteboard in a classroom, the Lightboard can be used while lecturing to:

• Model sample problems
• Annotate diagrams and images
• Illustrate persistently challenging concepts
• Explore creative performances or storytelling

The Lightboard can be utilized when creating single recordings, or to prepare a series of lectures or micro-lectures.

Working with ITS

аIJʿª½±½á¹û professors from any discipline may work with ITS to create instructional content using the Lightboard. ITS support includes:

• Lightboard orientation and practice in the studio
• Content planning and storyboarding
• Consideration of evidence-based practices for creating and using instructional video
• Post-production editing
• Uploading and sharing content on аIJʿª½±½á¹û’s supported media platforms
• Activity design and guidance for learners, using recorded content
• The creation of sample assessments to collect learner feedback
